Join us in welcoming the newest addition to the Criminal Justice team – Post Doctoral Research Associate Julie Krupa!
Born and raised in Michigan, naturally Julie chose to attend Eastern Michigan University for her undergraduate studies. Afterwards, Julie moved to Florida either to escape the Michigan winters or to attend the University of Central Florida where she pursued her Masters Degree. Still eager to take her studies farther, Julie attended the University of South Florida where she earned her PhD in Criminology.
Throughout her graduate career, Julie worked on multiple research projects including Juvenile Justice – Translational Research on Adolescents in the Legal System (JJ-TRIALS) and Health Coach service project for youths involved with justice. Julie’s research interests focus on “juvenile corrections, the intersection between public health and juvenile justice, and the communities and crime.” She has also conducted research on “service delivery among justice-involved youth and health risk behavior among delinquent youth.”
Outside of academics, Julie enjoys long distance running and spending time outdoors – particularly camping, hiking, and spending time on the water kayaking. She also enjoys traveling and has recently visited Cuba for the first time.
